About Us

Northern Lights Winnetka, a shop specializing in unusual one of a kind lamps and a large variety of shades, is located in the charming north suburban town of Winnetka. We have been in the same location for over sixty years and share the street with other unique specialty shops. Northern Lights offers a wide selection of Fredrick Cooper lamps and is able to special order any style and shade.

In addition to our large inventory of ready made shades, we also design and make custom shades in a selection of our fabrics or your own. Our beautiful handmade oiled or shellacked parchment paper shades must be seen.

Northern Lights also does electrical repairs on lamps, creates one of a kind lamps from your favorite treasures, pottery, figurines, trophys, or just about anything.

Our staff is very professional, and will be very happy to help you with all your lamp and shade needs. It is quite helpful to bring in the lamp for a new shade and bring in fabric swatches for a new lamp. Don't forget to top off that new lamp or shade with one of our unusual finials; too many to count!
